Truesilk

March 24, 2014

There is a new yarn offered by Rowan this spring called Truesilk   It's simply lovely and has beautiful pattern support with garments designed by Martin Storey.  I was sent a sample ball to review and dropped everything to get my needles to it.  While we don't often think of silk as being elastic, the yarn's chainette construction provides elasticity and it's easy to get an even tension.  Because of this, Truesilk stitches are a snap to manuever into lace and cables.  It's always important to match needle to yarn (I have a post coming later this week about this topic) and I found it best to knit Truesilk with blunt wood needles to slow it down and avoid snagging.  Rowan recommends that you tie a single knot whenever you cut the yarn to avoid unraveling.  Do that!  Truesilk, like all quality silk, has beautiful sheen and luster, graceful drape and strength in clear bright colors.  If you are able to splurge on a fantastic project this year, this would be the yarn to splurge with.

Now enjoy some of my favorites!

Lacy cables in Angelite knit in the navy Sleep. So gorgeous.

Lacy diamonds in Morganite knit in Calm.

Peridot, a sweet short jacket knit in Happy.

I just may have to make Sapphire, here knit in Peace.

Now this I am making, here knit in Serene, a beautiful pale cream.

Topaz, an easy summer shell to show off the luster of Truesilk, here in Joy.

Simple lace in Tourmaline, here in the beautiful pale blue Whisper.

There are accessories too, like the Pearl Gloves in Peace.

I would love this around my neck.  Torine in the peachy coral Sugar.

The Sunburst Shawl is the ultimate in luxury and glamour.  A drapey silky shawl in Serene.

The location shoot was in the picturesque village of Portmeirion in North Wales.

  1. Isn't that where The Prisoner was filmed (I don't want to say shot)? I think we should all start to wear flowers in our hair and line our eyes with kohl.
