I was feeling pretty grumpy about my knitting after finally admitting defeat on a gorgeous (and expensive) project that was not working out and needed to be frogged. After all that frustration, I needed something sweet and uncomplicated on my needles—something guaranteed to make me happy. Enter Sprout! This little project felt exactly right. I already had my collection of yogurt pots saved and waiting, so all I needed was the yarn.
The designer happens to be a friend who works at my LYS, and when I stopped in to pick out yarn (impossible to imagine I had no brown or green in my stash that would work!) she was there and showed me a few more designs she’s currently working on. That only made me more excited to cast on.
These turned out so incredibly cute that I already know I’ll be making more of her designs soon. It takes just a tiny amount of yarn, very little time, and such a fun way to upcycle your pretty Le Fermiere pots.

This spring post that has a little bit of this and a little bit of that.
Welcome to my spring world!
Last year I made beautiful lavender chive flower vinegar and we loved it. This year I'm trying nasturtium flower vinegar too. Nasturtiums have a peppery, almost radish-like bite, so they seem perfect for vinegar.
Flower vinegars feel very old-world and are excellent in:
- vinaigrettes for potato or cucumber salad
- drizzled over tomatoes
- quick pickled vegetables
- deviled eggs
- marinades for chicken or fish
I noticed last year that flower vinegar flavor develops faster than expected. Tasting every few days can help you catch the sweet spot before it becomes too sharp.

This week’s post is a little bit of everything I love—a sweet craft project, a garden and pup update, a relaxing desert getaway, knitting works-in-progress, a few movie and book favorites, and some meal planning to keep the week running smoothly. It’s a mix of themes that reflects life around here, so let’s jump in…starting with knitting, naturally.
The scarves above and below are both about 2/3 finished. Above is Just A Scarf and is next to my bed when I want to knit at knit before bedtime. Below is Emporium. I'm keeping this in the family room at this time and work on it during TV time after dinner. I also took it to Palm Desert and got a lot done there. Both knits are just a blast to make.
