a little reminder

January 08, 2012

A little reminder to set your DVRs for the second season of Downton Abbey airing tonight.  I've been looking forward to this since the last episode of season one.  It's surely one of the best Masterpiece Theaters ever.

If by some terrible accident you never happened to see season one, for a short time you can watch it here on your computer.

The production inspired me to search out my cameos.  All are hand carved shell.
These came from either my grandmother Pearl or my great Aunt Cytha.

My favorite aunt, Aunt Patty gave these to me when I pieced my ears at age 16.  It was quite a feat to talk my mother into ear piercing as at the time it was akin to tattooing.  My aunt always bought me the most beautiful gifts.

Enjoy Downton Abbey!

  7. I'm re-watching season one this week, and then I'll catch season two on the computer. Isn't it good? That's funny, my mom would not allow my sister and I pierce our ears either. I got them done the minute I left home on an exchange program overseas at 17.

  8. Kristen , they were from your Grandmother Pearl and her sons went together and gave them to her for her Birthday. Very nice that you still have them.

  9. OMG I just "discovered" Downton Abby when my mother loaned me her dvds. I LOVED the series. I've also started watching Lark Rise to Candleford and it's also excellent (although very different that Downton Abby).

  10. Hi, just found your blog. Here in the UK we've just had a two hour Christmas special of Downton Abbey, it was very good, I hope you get that eventually too.
There will be series 3 next Autumn.

  11. Oh my gosh, a Christmas special? I can hardly stand it! I don't know when we'll get that! And I am glad that this won't end with season two, already knowing there is a season three to look forward to is heavenly.

  12. So glad I could give you some Downton news to look forward to!
I love the music that heralds the beginning of it too, the promise of an hour's pleasure. Or two hours for the Christmas special - bliss!
