take it or leaf it

The color is most accurate in this photo.

Scary computer picture.

I made the Take It Or Leaf It cowl a few nights ago.  It took me two hours and one skein of Rowan Lima Colour so truly is a one night-one skein wonder and a great gift idea.  The pattern is a free download and EASY!  It's one of dozens of lace leaf patterns that are so popular on Ravelry right now and a good beginning lace project.  The yarn is soft just like the original Rowan Lima but with gradual color changes.  My color Santiago has shades of blue and purple.  I've used Lima several other times, once for a my beautiful Hourglass by Joelle Hoverson, and once for the Noelle Capelet by Martin Storey.  Lima, made with baby alpaca and merino wool has a chain construction and is next-to-the-skin soft.  However, my Hourglass has grown in length with wear.  Even though I was able to fix my sweater by tightening up the neck by threading a thin string of elastic through the neck hem,  I think the best way to use this yarn would be to use a moss or seed stitch or cables, something that gives the fabric structure so it doesn't droop.  Such is the nature of alpaca.  Blunt wooden needles worked best for me.  Hand wash.
