The Cutest Little Craft I Didn’t Know I Needed

December 08, 2025

Good morning! I’m popping in at the beginning of the week to share a quick little project that you can make in a jif—hopefully with items you already have tucked away at home. Sometimes the most charming crafts come from a bit of rummaging and a spark of inspiration, and this one is as simple and satisfying as they come. I couldn’t resist passing it along while the idea was still fresh!

I spotted this idea at a Christmas craft boutique last week—and even bought one—but when I got home, I realized I could easily make my own with things I already had in the craft room. You probably don’t need a full DIY, but here’s what I did: Save a few glass jelly jars with screw-on lids (or something similar) and spray the lids with snow-white paint. Mine had a pretty red-and-white check pattern I wanted to keep, so instead of spray paint, I brushed one coat of white acrylic just in the center. Once that dries, paint the top of the lid with a generous layer of glue and start building your little scene—tiny trees, reindeer, birds, or Santas. I think it looks best to let greenery be the focal point and arrange the other pieces around it, mixing up the heights for more interest. If you don’t have small treasures at home, you can find very inexpensive ones on Amazon.

When you’re happy with your layout, gently sprinkle white glitter over everything, spooning it around little legs and branches so all the glue is fully coated. Leave it untouched overnight. In the morning, turn it upside down and lightly shake off the excess glitter. Fill the jar with your treat of choice (candy, homemade cocoa mix or bath salts, etc.) and, for gifting, slip it into a cellophane bag tied with a ribbon.

This idea works for any holiday! How cute would it be with moss, flowers, and a wee bunny for Easter? Or a spooky Halloween scene atop a jar of candy corn?

My jelly jars were once filled with Bonne Maman preserves which we love when we have run out of homemade jam. I bought this little variety set as a stocking stuffer this year. For other stocking stuffers I also purchased these hand warmers, this book, and other little items like chapstick and toothpaste! I adore useful gifts!

I love rummaging through my Christmas crafts box—it's stuffed with little treasures I’ve squirreled away for decades, all hoping to finally make their debut.

While I think these make the perfect hostess or teacher gift, these little cuties are off to a luncheon next week! I slip them into cellophane corsage bags and tie them with a bow for easy transport. I bought a bundle of 200 bags ages ago, and honestly, they’ve become one of my most-used gift-wrapping staples.

Here we are last night, captured in the wild at a Christmas party ;) I’ll see you at the end of the week for my regularly scheduled post. I hope your week is filled with the perfect blend of fun and relaxation. Meanwhile, I’m off to tackle the house… which currently looks like a bomb exploded in every room!
