Topsy Turvy Bunnies fun and more!

Susan B Anderson of Barrett Wool Co. designs the cutest toy patterns ever! Here are two of her patterns that I made for Easter, the Reversible Bunnies topsy turvy doll and the Woodland Bunny. They are fiddly but fun, and sometimes I'm just in the mood for knitting something cute and fiddly! Links at the end.
With an old fashioned topsy turvy doll, you squish one doll into the skirt of the other.

This little bunny is part of Susan's Woodland Collection. In the collection there are 8 woodland creatures and I have made all but one. When the last, a squirrel, is finished, I'll make a blog post on them. The little woodland creatures were a Christmas surprise kit that she offered last year. I have no problem buying her surprise kits because I know that I will love everything she designs. The kits also comes with her own yarn, Barrett Wool Co, and it's just lovely, plus little eyes and other tiny things you might need.

I organized my toy making supplies in one of my spare diaper caddies that I don't use for diapers, but use in the car for all the odds and ends that one likes to have in the car, and also use one in the knitting room for my needles and knitting accessories. There are three large compartments and each one holds a project. We are going on a driving trip and it's loaded and ready to go! My husband often wonders if I'll ever drive when we go on a driving trip, but then who will do the knitting?
The toys above are from the mystery kits Susan offers to her subscribers a few times a year, then the following year she sells the pattern on Ravelry and also as individual kits on her website. The kits are sold out and the patterns are not available yet (except the reversible snowman/tree which was from a few years ago). I made the topsy turvy snowman last year but ended up giving it to my girlfriend because she loved it so much. I will make another one for me. The reason I'm so into toys at this moment is because I just finished three super simple summer blouses which I'll share next week, but this had me knitting endless stockinette for weeks and I needed a break, so it was either knit fiddly toys or cables or colorwork. Fiddly toys won.

ReplyDeleteRe Adolescence - well-done, shows even close-knit families are at risk. May save Some lives, but this problem will never go away until Instagram/social media goes away. Sadly, it’s the nature of the beast. Parents, stay vigilant. But, not easy.. As the movie demonstrates who knew that the inherited trait of explosive anger in the realm of Social Media could be so deadly. Chloe
