Bergliebe
March 05, 2025I have a new warm and cozy sweater in my wardrobe and I loved the yarn so much I ordered two more sweaters worth. It's on sale! Half price! Read all about it......
I broke my rule to not buy yarn just because it's on sale (unless I have a specific project in mind that I'm going to start immediately.) However this yarn is so yummy I gave myself the go-ahead to buy many more skeins in white for a Christmas red and white sweater, see below, and an unknown all white sweater, both to be made in the future. This yarn was way too good to ignore. It's a super soft non-superwash merino and comes in gorgeous colors, although this sale is so great, close to half off, it's selling out quickly. It's wonderful in the hand and slightly reminded me of Brooklyn Tweed's Imbue. It's springy and plush and an absolute star with textured stitches. The ball band for Stone Wool Delaine Merino says sport but to me it's a DK or even a heavy DK. I have found the yarn different places online, but the sale is on the Quince and Co. website.
The pattern is Bergliebe by Isabell Kraemer. The textured yoke uses twisted stitches, slipped stitches and tiny cable stitches. I think it would be gorgeous to continue the texture pattern throughout the entire sweater, like a gansey type sweater. Maybe that's how I should use the extra white yarn I purchased. Hmmm, will think about that but must put it on the back burner for now, I have a queue that is a mile long!
- Stone Wool Delaine Merino I used the color Birch, a very pretty soft brown IRL.

The neckline is interesting. At first glance it looks like a regular rolled stockinette edge, but it has a purl row to give it a bit more structure. |

The stitch pattern on the yoke was fun to make! |

Short rows shape the back neck. |

A Christmas sweater, Nordic Snowflake, I'll start at the end of summer and I'm already looking forward to it. I still have another sweater's worth of this white for another sweater yet to be determined. |
I have so many wips and future wips-to-be that I'm thinking of making a post if only to keep me organized. Today it's raining so I'm planning a cozy day at home (after I get my mammogram appointment out of the way this morning) and get out all my empty project bags and fill them with yarn and matching pattern. I want to make a plan for what I'll knit this spring and summer. I'll take pictures and see if I can't make a post. I think I told you I was sick for a week and my husband is recovering from a small surgery, so getting back to the last of the spring cleaning has been slow going. I'm almost done with the kitchen and laundry room, then I'll tackle the family room which will only take a day if I don't dilly dally. When I'm done with that I'll make a "wrap it up" post as I feel so good about the cleaning I've done and want to share a few last tips and thoughts. I've also done some seed planting in the greenhouse and little sprouts are already coming up. I wanted to get the entire house spring cleaned before I started the outdoor chores but that didn't happen. Oh well! When the weather warms a little bit more we'll start cleaning up the garden, scrub up the greenhouse and the patio, and get the vegetable beds ready. I'm a California wimp and need the temps to be 60s and up in order to work outside comfortably. At least the greenhouse is always cozy warm!
Take care! Kristen

I love this almost neutral shade on you, Kristen. It has just a little bit of color from the brown in it for my color-loving self. I also love that winter snowflake sweater pattern you are planning. Looks wonderful for you. Chloe
ReplyDeleteThank you. I don't think I own any brown and was a bit surprised when this yarn arrived. To me, the website picture showed a pale tan, but it's a pretty brown and I do like it. Can't wait to knit that snowflake pattern. I've got some summer knitting and finish up a few winter projects then I've got my eyes and heart set on that.
