Paint the doll body with white and when dry, paint green blades of grass on the bottom half. Using this template from Benzie, cut red caps and white round gils out of high quality felt. With tiny whip stitches, hand stitch the four dart seams on the cap. I did not use the frilled ring from the template, but made my own much smaller one. To make frilled ring collar: with white felt, cut out a 1.25" circle with pinking shears. Cut in half. Cut the inner part out of the half circle and use the curved pinked edge as your frilled ring collar.

Before stitching cut a small criss cross opening for the head into the center of the gill. With tiny stitches, stitch the cap to the gill leaving an opening of an inch. Next, randomly sew the pearls on, then lightly stuff with polyfill and stitch the opening closed.

After stitching, draw the gill lines on the gill with a marker. Next, poke your finger into the hole to make space for the head. Put four dots of glue on the criss cross and place the head inside and give it a jaunty little angle. Once it is dry you will paint the face. I use a toothpick to dot the eyes and also to make a red V for a pouty smile. Lastly you will wrap the frilled ring around her neck, dot with glue and pat down to dry. You have made a mushroom gal! If you want to turn your mushroom gal into a hanging ornament, sew a tiny o ring to the very top of the cap.
