Thanksgiving Eve

November 27, 2019

Just thought I'd pop in on this Thanksgiving Eve to wish my American readers a Happy Thanksgiving. I hope if you are hosting tomorrow that you are not feeling too stressed out!

The pictures above are of my table set for eight for tomorrow's feast, and the three pictures below are of a small dinner party I had last night to reconnect with some friends visiting from out of town. The only time our schedules would cooperate was the Tuesday night before Thanksgiving!

How are you spending the day AFTER Thanksgiving? I really loathe calling that precious day, Black Friday. Ugh. 😒 The shopping hype on all forms of media has become unbearable to me. I am entirely ignorant of the shopping crowds first hand because I have always stayed home on the day after Thanksgiving. I sleep in and it's a good bet I'll be in my PJs ALL DAY. I have turkey stock bubbling on the stove and Christmas carols playing in the background. The fire is lit and I spend the laziest day of my year slowly decorating the house for Christmas. Bliss.

Thanksgiving gives us a day to remind ourselves of what we have to be thankful for throughout the year. In that spirit of thankfulness, I want to thank all of you for being so kind for allowing me into your home every week. From my house to your house I'm wishing you all the best during this holiday season.

  3. I have always thought of the day after Thanksgiving as Do-What-You-Want-Day (except when I was working). Or Stop-and-Smell-the-Roses Day. Or Eat Up All the Turkey Day. Anything but Shopping Day. Glad you are spending most of the day in your Pajamas, Kristen, enjoying the fruits of your labors. Most of my morning will be the same. Chloe

    1. I LOVE that! Do what you want day! I am so proud of myself that I stayed out of the shops even though there were some good sales going on in my town. I did get the house decorated, so yay for that!

  4. Want to add that today is also being spent in gratefulness that I actually have a family to have celebrated Thanksgiving with when I know so many people do not. This is what has really suffused my morning. I love your beautiful pictures which visually call to mind our own wonderful day. Chloe

    1. Yes, yes. We invited a young man, our neighbor, who lost both his parents this year. Very sad. He is my son's age and is living in the house alone. He was with us on Thanksgiving Day and we were so happy to have him.
