a season of knitting and announcing a winner

Hello friends. I actually had some empty project baskets in my knitting room! It's hard to imagine, but true, and if you know me, I just can't have that! I love to have a lot of projects on hand so I filled up those empty baskets with some nice new projects. I just counted them up on Ravelry and I have eleven WIPs. Some have only an hour or so of work before they are done and some haven't been started and most likely won't be started anytime soon. Others are long term projects that I work on sporadically, and other projects, one or two of them, are grab and goes that stay in bags by the door, reserved for traveling in the car or knitting at the movies. To help me keep track of all this good stuff, I always take pictures and post my WIPs on Ravelry. I think that is one of the best ways to use Ravelry. I give each project their own basket with needles, yarn and pattern, take photos, and when I add them to Rav I link the pattern and yarn. Read on to see what I have planned for a whole season of knitting!
Fist up--I've been waiting for the Weekender Crew Neck pattern, above, for ages. Bonus, it's knit in DK! Brooklyn Tweed Loft is supposed to be fingering or sport, but on a size US6 it knits to a DK weight for me. It's definitely OK to play around with needle sizes and gauge when trying yarn. On their website they recommend a size US 0 to US 4 with a gauge of 24 to 32 stitches per 4 inches, but you'd be surprised at how nice Loft looks knit at 22 stitches, plus I think the drape the looser gauge gives will be perfect for this sweater. I'd like to get right on this and have it done before Thanksgiving.

| These are so addictive to make! I'll see my grandson this weekend and I'm going to ask him if he wants these for his friends to us as backpack charms. If yes, I'll have them finished by Thanksgiving, but if no, I'll use these for tree ornaments or package tie-ons. Santa and Gnome Coasters, free pattern from the TaffyLass Blog. |

| Not all of my WIPs are knitting! I found this plastic tree stump at Target and think with a little TLC and paint it will be pretty. Right now the colors are bad and it's very plasticky looking. I've asked the bartender at our club to save champagne and Patron corks for me which I hope to turn into very cute mushrooms. Wish me luck on this little project. It might require a lot of glitter! Also, I'm thinking of what I want to make for my Christmas peg dolls. I've got a few ideas and I'm getting excited! |

| This yarn was a trade with a friend. I'm making Rocquaine and it's a fast knit. I should have this finished this fall. |

| Sweet As Honey Blanket. I'm using about 20 different blacks and whites from stash and I actually think I'm going to run out! Me? Run out of yarn? This will be my very last large scrappy project. I knit on this sporadically but I only started it in June and it's more than half done, so not bad, but I'm in no hurry to have it finished. It's not like I don't have enough knitted blankets! |

| Chevronopolis Shawl by Les Garcons using BT Loft and Spincycle Dyed in the Wool. This is 2/3 finished. I knit on it about once a week. This will be done this year or perhaps the next. No hurry, I have lots of shawls, and this is just fun to knit. |

| Beatrice Mitts from Leslie Friend using Turtlepurl Burberry Stripes. I took this to Greece with me and only have to do the thumb ribbing to do. I'll have this finished soon. |

| I had to frog my Poet sweater, see below. It almost killed me to do it, the lace was so lovely, but the yarn was not right for the project. It's lovely yarn, but needs to be outerwear because it's itchy on me. This V neck by Isabel Kraemer will be good for the yarn and I'll wear a tee underneath. Not started and I'm in no hurry, I first have to recover from frogging lace. 😒 |

| I've been stitching this Belgian linen tablecloth for at least five years. It is a very high quality vintage kit that I got for a song on Etsy. My goal was always to finish it for my Thanksgiving table, but Thanksgivings came and went and I never did. This time I am so close that I WILL! |

| A garter stitch blanket knit in exquisite Rowan Kid Classic leftovers from when I was a Rowan Ambassador. It's definitely a movie knit but I guess we don't go to as many movies as I thought. One day it will be an FO, but only if some good movies come out. The pattern I'm using is a modified version of the 14 Color Woolstok Light Wrap. |

I saw that plastic tree stump at my Target in the dollar section but didn't know what I would do with it. I'd love to know how you transform it because I thought it looked too plasticky too. I hope you can make some step by step tutorials for those of us who are a little less crafty, but have high hopes!
