Christmas Gnome Giveaway

The giveaway above has almost everything you need to make 6 gnomes. You will need to supply the glue, size US 5 needles, the purchased pattern, and optional, a pom pom maker. Two skeins of Knit Pal Cotton Core DK is more than enough to make six hats with pom poms. I even included the big noses so you'll be completely ready to go.

I would use Cotton Core again in a heartbeat! It's 78% cotton and 22% acrylic. The yarn is very soft, well behaved, machine washable, and value priced at $25 for 6 skeins, plus free Prime shipping and returns! The heathered colors are beautifully sophisticated and I was truly impressed. I used watermelon red and white for my project. I would not hesitate to use this yarn again. It's also available in a heavier worsted weight.

| Here's a little tip when glueing on the hat: smooth down the pom pom and place a wide rubber band at the top. This will keep it tame while you place the hat. Run a bead of white glue on the inner rim of the hat and place it right above the rubber band. Pat down the rim all around then slide down the rubber band to remove. Glue on the nose. The pattern calls for a tiny knitted cord to attach midway down the hat as a hanger, but that limits you in how you can hang it. I left it off and will instead give a wire ornament hanger so it can be hung from wherever, maybe up a the top if you like. The pattern also calls for sewing a little star to the top instead of a pom pom, and that would be darling, as would a little bell. |
