This makes me smile!

Welcome! Today I have a little bit of knitting and a little bit of gardening to share. Here is my most recent FO, a sweet little scarf that was just as fun to knit and it is to wear. I finished this in time to take to Carmel for a quick weekend trip with the girls. The weatherman says it will be a little chilly and it will be nice to have something fun to wrap around my neck. The pattern is knit sideways, the long way, and is shaped with short rows and could not be easier or cuter.

This scarf is part of a set that includes hat, mittens, booties, scarf and wrap and is knit entirely in garter stitch. The pictures are from Purl Soho. How cute is the entire set? As soon as I saw these images I knew that I would have to make some, probably all of them, and the hat must be next! The hat, mittens and booties come in 4 sizes, baby/toddler to adult large. Both the scarf and wrap come in 3 sizes. I think this would make the most adorable and sophisticated gift for a baby shower with a wee hat, mittens and scarf! Can't you just hear the ohhhs and ahhhs? Can't you just see a little toddler in this? I don't really go to baby showers anymore but if I am ever so lucky to be invited to one, I know what I must make.  I used stash Brooklyn Tweed Shelter in Fossil and Softyak DK in black. There are more details on my Ravelry page.

This makes me smile!

I love this color combo.

Also this week, the garden is making me smile! The weather was in the 80s for two days this week and we took advantage and got so much done. The vegetable beds are fully dug and ready for planting, the water systems are up and running and the bean pole is up. I divided the amaryllis and set them up under the olive tree to rest all spring, summer and fall. What a life they have! The greenhouse tomatoes are about 3" high but we went to the garden center to augment our variety and there's were 8" tall and ready to be planted. We don't have electricity in the greenhouse and so don't have the necessary grow lights and heating mats that 8" tomatoes in March would require.

Next week I'll divide the zinnias and give them each their separate cell to
grow until they go out in the garden in May.

I tidied up and the spiders were not too happy with me.

We are back in the 50s and 60s, typical spring weather, and just beginning to set out the vegetables.

The peonies are budding.

Bluebells

Next week we plan to start juicing the oranges.

The roses are leafing out and I spot a few early buds.

    2. And yes, the wisteria is just starting to bloom. We had to cut it wayyyy back in fall so it's not as bloomy as in previous years.
