wishing you

November 22, 2022

Hello! If you live in the USA, I want to wish you a happy Thanksgiving holiday. I know you're most likely busy right now but I wanted to pop in to remind you to save that turkey carcass (such an unattractive word!) and make turkey soup! Last year I wrote step by step posts to make no fail turkey soup. This post is where it begins!  We will be a small gathering this year but whether large or small, I always make a big turkey because we are a family who loves their turkey. The day after Thanksgiving I'll be listening to carols, decorating the house for Christmas, and making turkey stock. I actually look forward to the day after!

I have cookie cutters for every occasion, but when Thanksgiving rolls around I'm very happy to pull out my fall themed cutters. When my husband bit the tail off a squirrel he said, "These are the best. I don't know how a cookie could be better." I imagine every cookie wishes they could taste as good as a sugar cookie. This is my favorite cut out sugar cookie recipe.

I haven't yet set my table for Thanksgiving but last weekend I had a small dinner party and I really like the simplicity of the table setting above and below and might just repeat it.

Happy Thanksgiving!

  1. Happy Thanksgiving to you too. Big or small, we love them all. Over the years we've been snowed in or kept home for various reasons and still managed to have a wonderful Thanksgiving, sometimes with just us two. More than once we've celebrated the Saturday after because that's when we could get the family together.. Whatever works! Jamie from New York.

    1. How sweet! Yes, on Thanksgiving we take what we can get. So funny, because we have also celebrated Thanksgiving on Friday once before because of travel problems for our guests. It was perfect!

  3. Thank you for reposting your soup recipe! I didnt save it from last year… I was wondering if you cover the soup during the 4 hr simmer or just simmer uncovered. Thanks you!

    1. Oh good! Yes, simmer without the cover and add water only if it gets too low. Happy cooking!
