Here's a beautiful classic pattern reworked. Yankee Knitter has been designing knit patterns for awhile and has published many classics over the years, including the rolled edge pullover. The original was knit in pieces and seamed; this reworked version is knit top down in one piece. MUCH more to my liking. The raised back neck is shaped with increases and cast on stitches; there are no short rows. As you can imagine, the pattern is quick and easy and perfect to use as a blank canvas for stripes or any type of pattern you fancy. I had a full skein of a pretty blue I purchased while on vacation in New Orleans years ago, and the stripes were mostly Rowan Softyak Dk. You know I love Softyak (soft, machine washable and easy to knit) and I save every scrap. I was so happy to use them for this darling sweater. The pattern is well written, easy to follow, knit in heavy DK/light worsted weight, is available from 6 months to 12 years, and is simply a classic.  The pattern is on sale now until April 4. 

My husband and I have been putting in a few hours a day of garden work. Our hard work is starting to pay off plus it didn't hurt that we had a wonderful day and night of much needed rain. The soft ground is letting me get a jump start on weed pulling and digging was made a little bit easier for my husband. Pictured below are the last blooms of the tulip magnolia. They are so pretty against the blue and white sky. I'll be posting a spring garden post soon and I'm working on a cotton yarn post.  

I don't often recommend movies, but we saw The Lost City yesterday and I giggled through the entire movie. Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum were adorable, and there is a very funny surprise appearance by a famous actor. Well, he caught me by surprise at least as I hadn't read anything in advance about the movie. My husband picked it, and it was a winner. I think you'd like it. In our area it's still out in the theaters.

I didn't even realize the Oscars were on the other night. I like movies but I haven't watched an award show in years--no interest in anything about them. But this morning I did see the slap heard 'round the world. Actors never seem to miss an opportunity to make themselves look ridiculous. Eye roll.
