peonies

The peonies have gone crazy again this year. On one large and two small tree peony bushes I counted over 60 buds. The first bloom opened Easter Monday and since then I have picked baskets of them for big, billowing arrangements to place around the house. The extravagance of having pots of peonies in the center of my coffee table on a Tuesday afternoon with no one to see but me and hubby feels very decadent. Carter LOVES flowers. On our walks he likes to gather flowers, pine cones, leaves, and really anything I'll let him grab. The bottom of his little push-car is always a mess with his treasures! The bee activity around the peonies is high and I'm teaching Carter to watch them quietly and not disturb. It's amazing how much he listens and how quickly little ones learn.

DeleteFor me, I love all four sweaters. I have picked up my needing needles and again and enjoying the change from needlepoint. I stitched two complete “bride’s box” of ornaments this winter. I also just found out that Debbie Bliss is going out of business. No more baby cashmerino. YIKES!

I love to needlepoint and usually make one needlepoint project a year (a small one!). But a bride's box of ornaments, that sounds absolutely charming!
DeleteI'm heartbroken to hear this about Debbie Bliss. I know she has been having problems but I was hoping it would all be resolved, and I still hope that's the case. It's hard to imagine the knitting world without Baby Cashmerino!
Those flowers are SO beautiful! Large and luscious with colors that are breathtaking. I love the soft crush that the petals have once open. They seem very innocent, like they are unaware of their youth. Beautiful, as is your grandson.

DeleteI love your peonies. How do you get them to grow in CA? I live in San Jose and have never been able to get them to grow. Please, please, tell me the secret.
ReplyDeleteHi Diane. They are tree peonies. When I bought them it said on the package that they would grow in our region, and they do! They come up every year without fail and get bigger every year!
