baby kits

April 08, 2018

While going through my patterns and stash (a favorite hobby of mine!), I kitted up some pretty baby knits for Carter. He is quickly outgrowing his sweaters and will need bigger sizes for next winter. I'm all about planning ahead and more importantly, nibbling away at my stash when I can. I love my stash now that I've cleaned it up a bit but I have to admit it continues to overwhelm me as it's so large. Still I  continue to expand it frequently with big banquet sized additions, and only take tiny bites out of it now and again. Sigh.

I think this will end of being a 2 year size Flax Light fade with leftovers of Madtosh fingering light, Unicorn Tails that never made it into a shawl, plus some yarn samples from Stitches West.

This  blue version above and the yellow one below will most likely become striped 2 year sized Playdates from Tin Can Knits. There is some Rowan Super Fine Merino 4 ply, some Canon Dyes Charles Sock, and some Rowan Pure Wool 4 ply. The pale blue is vintage Rowan Cashcotton 4 ply.

This will be a Silver Birch in size 2. I love this pattern!

I'd love to hear from you!

    1. Hi Fiona. Thank you! As for Gingersnap, I do have larger sizes in the works but don't know when I can promise when the pattern will become available. I'll post it on this blog when it's ready. Best, Kristen

Your peonies are heavenly. Wish we could grow them here.

  2. Your peonies are huge! I was fortunate enough to see them in person. Thought I would take a sniff of their beautiful fragrance but noticed the honey bees were busy gathering nectar. Absolutely beautiful.

    1. Thank you! Yes, the honey bee activity is high, esp. in the afternoon. I think they are Casey's bees!

  4. I love seeing pictures of your garden. I think perhaps the peonies are even more beautiful than last year. It must be such a joy to see Carter love them and all nature so much. Bravo for teaching him to respect bees!

    1. We love our bees and have a great respect for them! I don't want him to be afraid of them, but rather keep a quiet distance to give them their space. Thank you for the garden compliment. The peonies are eyepopping at the moment, and very soon we'll have roses. It looks like a very good year.

    1. I cannot believe she is going out of business! I know she has had troubles over the years, but I'm very sad to hear this! Oh no!
