pretty paperwhite progress

December 06, 2014

It was about 3 weeks ago that I planted my paperwhites above, and look how much they've grown!  They are starting to get little buds at the tip of the stalks, and when that happens they'll bloom in a few days.  I think I timed it perfectly as I'm having a few parties, one next week, and one the week after.

I'm almost finished with the house decorating, with just a few more finishing touches to go.  It looks pretty! I've managed to ignore my husband's protestations and put up a second tree in my "sewing lounge", a spare bedroom off my sewing room that I've commandeered for my burgeoning knitting and crafting, (because one room is obviously not enough for this knitter.)  He thought one tree was enough, hummph.  Pictures soon.

  1. I love the vases you've use. I've planted paperwhites for years but have never planted them in water and stones. I'll have a try that next year. I find that they bloom in almost exactly 4 weeks, from first planting to first bloom. Amazing and beautiful! Merry Christmas!

  5. Tell your husband to get a grip. A second tree is a must!!! I ignored my husband, too, many years ago when he boo-hooed about me putting up a second tree. The next year, just to spite him, I did SIXTEEN trees!!! Nine of them were only about a foot tall, but fully decorated. Three were full-sized, and the others ranged from 2-5 ft. Shut him down completely!!! Now he doesn't complain about the 4 or 5 trees I like to do every year. He just smiles and nods! :-)

Your paperwhites are looking great! Nature is such a confounding thing. To think they have grown that much in 3 short weeks....so cool!

I'm loving the sneak peek at your Christmas decor. Looking forward to seeing the rest!
