The Cutest Little Craft I Didn’t Know I Needed
December 08, 2025I spotted this idea at a Christmas craft boutique last week—and even bought one—but when I got home, I realized I could easily make my own with things I already had in the craft room. You probably don’t need a full DIY, but here’s what I did: Save a few glass jelly jars with screw-on lids (or something similar) and spray the lids with snow-white paint. Mine had a pretty red-and-white check pattern I wanted to keep, so instead of spray paint, I brushed one coat of white acrylic just in the center. Once that dries, paint the top of the lid with a generous layer of glue and start building your little scene—tiny trees, reindeer, birds, or Santas. I think it looks best to let greenery be the focal point and arrange the other pieces around it, mixing up the heights for more interest. If you don’t have small treasures at home, you can find very inexpensive ones on Amazon.
When you’re happy with your layout, gently sprinkle white glitter over everything, spooning it around little legs and branches so all the glue is fully coated. Leave it untouched overnight. In the morning, turn it upside down and lightly shake off the excess glitter. Fill the jar with your treat of choice (candy, homemade cocoa mix or bath salts, etc.) and, for gifting, slip it into a cellophane bag tied with a ribbon.

While I think these make the perfect hostess or teacher gift, these little cuties are off to a luncheon next week! I slip them into cellophane corsage bags and tie them with a bow for easy transport. I bought a bundle of 200 bags ages ago, and honestly, they’ve become one of my most-used gift-wrapping staples. Here we are last night, spotted in the wild at a Christmas party ;) I’ll see you at the end of the week for my regularly scheduled post. I hope your week is filled with the perfect blend of fun and relaxation. Meanwhile, I’m off to tackle the house… which currently looks like a bomb exploded in every room! DeleteKristen ,,,,I love your blog..wish I could knit as fast and as well as you do...you are amazing...but today's tip of decorating jar lids was really fantastic...but too late for me this year, but I will be prepared next year for sure. I also love that jam. so I will be on the hunt to collect some jars. not hard since they are all so delicious ..while I was browsing your site, I also ordered those cellephone bags....and I also ordered some natural parchment paper tulip muffin papers...I ordered the large size...I like to make big muffins with a big top...and they are perfect for gifting with such a nice presentation. Maybe you might want to highlight them on your blog. Susan ....I live no far away in Camel ...
