fall dinner

November 04, 2013

The roses are from our garden.  These were picked on November 3rd.  I am not kidding! We know these Simplicity rose bushes are spectacular, but our warm weather has made the roses think it's spring and they are more prolific than ever.  I picked buckets of them!

Simplicity Pink from Jackson Perkins.

The pine cone embroidery on the napkins is so pretty.

I love spots of low candlelight.

Simplicity Red from Jackson Perkins.

I actually picked two baskets of the Red Simplicity.

AFTER I picked the roses, this is what our rose hedge looked like.  It is about ready to burst into big pink.

We had mom's beans for dinner.

Ina Garten's Macaroons for dessert.

My mom's recipe for slow cooker beans came in handy as we had been out all day.  When we came home the house smelled all ham and beany, very nice.  When I was little this was reserved for family dinners.  But with a green salad and a tiny sweet, I think it's nice enough for company!

Here are the shopping links and recipes.

  2. Good Morning Kristen, Your table has been laid beautifully and the roses, well, the colour is so lovely. I cannot believe you are picking roses at this time of year..... but what a treat to be able to have so many vases of roses around the house.
Your mum's recipe for beans look interesting and that is one of the things I love about slow cookers, the cooking smells which fill the house when I return home.
    Have a lovely sunny day.
