Genevieve in Blue

October 05, 2012

I love this simple little pullover so much that I made it again.  My first Genevieve was in cotton for summer, this time in wool to wear in winter.   This is my first time using this surprisingly soft yarn, Quince and Co.'s Chickadee.  It feels a bit scratchy in the skein, but knit up and it's next-to-the-skin soft.  This is a beautifully muted duck egg blue that has always been a favorite color of mine.

Their website describes the yarn:

100% American Wool
181 yds [166 m] / 50g
6.5 sts /inch on size US 3 needles
6 sts / inch on size US 5 needles

Chickadee is a little darling—soft, plump, springy, and eager to loop into intricate color patterns or delicate textures. Its three plies, spun from softest American wool, are twisted together firmly enough
to be sturdy, yet gently enough to be soft and cushiony.

I agree!

The top-down pattern, by Cecily Glowik MacDonald, is so simple the only embellishment is a scallop lace detail on the neck, then the rest is top down stockinette to showcase a beautiful yarn and simple shaping.  I made a few adjustments for a smaller neckline that I give on my Ravelry page.

Enjoy the upcoming weekend!
I have some fun posts coming up!
