Holl

August 22, 2011

Here is Holl, designed by Kirsten Johnston and named for American architect Steven Holl.  This will be a favorite sweater of mine I just know it!  I love that it's sweatshirty slouchy in a dressy way.
This pattern is from the Wool People collection put together by Brooklyn Tweed and was meant to be made in his beautiful tweedy Shelter wool.
However I had six skeins of the also lovely Rowan Kid Classic in Crystal, a pale grey, and thought pattern and wool might be a great match.  The gauge and drape are perfect for this pattern.  I made some minimal changes you can read about here on my Ravelry page.
I do love my hugely chunky bracelet.  It's super sparkly and super gaudy and it's pretty cute with the sweater, but it snags on everything.
On the home front, we are raising the ceiling in our living room and so it's pretty busy, dusty and noisy around here.   It's exciting to know it will look pretty and we'll finally have good lighting in that room.  I'm also busy picking out fabric and paint colors for this room, as it's getting a complete and so needed facelift.  For the first time in my life I have enlisted the help of a decorator.  The extra money being spent for this service is so worth the pressure off me to get things right.  Bliss.  I'll try to get some pictures to share this picking-out-process as we go along, I'm having a great time.
